“Eight years ago, I left the anchor desk to focus on the GOOD happening in our world.”
Why I Started LEM
After 25 years in broadcast journalism, I made a decision that changed everything. I walked away from the news anchor desk—not because I stopped caring about stories, but because I wanted to tell different ones.
Watching the news had become mentally exhausting. The constant cycle of crisis, conflict, and chaos was drowning out the voices that mattered most: the changemakers, the problem-solvers, the innovators working tirelessly to make our communities healthier, more connected, and kinder.
I saw a gap—and an opportunity. Media outlets needed balance. Audiences craved hope. And the organizations doing transformative work deserved a spotlight.
So I built Laura Evans Media with a singular mission: to tell stories that matter and help changemakers get the attention they deserve.
A Different Approach
LEM isn't your typical PR agency. We're a team of former journalists who understand what makes a story resonate because we've spent years telling them. We know what reporters need, what audiences respond to, and how to cut through the noise with narratives that inspire meaningful conversations.
We work with disruptors—corporate innovators and nonprofit leaders who embody courage, innovation, and purpose. The ones who aren't just talking about change; they're creating it. Elevating their voices and missions is the heartbeat of our work, and it continues to fill me with pride and purpose.
Building Something That Works
I didn't just start LEM to change the narrative landscape—I wanted to change my own life. After decades of grueling news schedules, I needed to build something that worked for me: precious time with my family, an endlessly supportive husband, and fulfilling work that feels like a natural extension of the foundation I spent 25 years building.
Today, LEM is a certified Woman Owned Business (WBENC), recognized with multiple industry awards (Telly, Ragan, PR Daily), and ranked among the top PR firms in Maryland. But what I'm most proud of? The community of badass professionals and inspiring clients who trust us to elevate their voices.
The Work That Drives Me
Every day, our team offers media outlets something different: stories about solutions, innovative programs, and the inspiring people impacted by them. Because there's a lot more happening in the world than doom and gloom—and those stories deserve airtime too.
Through LEM, I'm putting passion and purpose together—working with incredible women and men serving dozens of organizations that are working to make our world a better place.
