Medicaid Cuts Could Shutter Group Home Closures Across the South
Potential Medicaid funding cuts could force the immediate closure of group homes in Alabama and Georgia, displacing nearly 400 individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities who have nowhere else to turn.
Volunteers of America Southeast, which operates these homes, and whose budget relies heavily on Medicaid funding, is sounding the alarm. Contact us to set up interviews with VOASE CEO Rob Rodgers and VOA VP for Public Policy, Sarah Finch.
A Maternal Health Wake-Up Call
Each year, nearly 23,000 babies are stillborn in the U.S.—a staggering number that hasn't budged in 20 years, despite compelling research that shows many of these deaths are preventable. And yet, stillbirth is almost entirely absent from mainstream maternal health conversations. This Maternal Health Month, the moms behind PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy are demanding change.
Contact us to speak with PUSH moms, Liz O’Donnell and Marjorie Vail.
One Mom’s 23-Year Battle Against Medical Gaslighting
This Women’s Health Awareness Month, meet Jakki Maser—a Kansas mom who spent 23 years in debilitating pain, only to be told it was all in her head. Her journey spotlights the epidemic of medical gaslighting, which 70% of women report experiencing. When doctors dismissed her symptoms, Jakki took matters into her own hands—studying medical scans and ultimately identifying a rare spinal condition they missed. Now nearly pain-free, she’s urging women to trust their instincts and demanding a healthcare system that truly listens.
Interviews available with Jakki and her surgeon, Dr. Colin Haines.
