YouthBuild in Newport News is not just a second chance, it's a last chance for teens who have faced seemingly insurmountable barriers like poverty, crime, and violence.

The program helps students earn their diploma or GED while building technical skills for careers in fields like construction, IT, and healthcare. Media is invited to the May 9 graduation ceremony, where past graduates attest to the program’s power to turn lives around.

Can't make it?  Amere Langley, a 24-year-old YouthBuild social worker who mentors young people through trauma, accountability, and career readiness - is available for remote interviews as well as current program graduates! Contact us to set up interviews.

Will Tariffs Kill Fast Fashion and Luxury Goods?

Mounting tariffs are forcing fast fashion giants and luxury brands into a strategic reckoning, shattering assumptions about cheap sourcing and stable pricing.

Columbia Business School’s Rita McGrath — an expert on business inflection points and strategy — is available to break down why this isn’t a blip but a major structural shift that could redefine how we shop and what brands survive.

Rita is based in NYC, and available via Zoom or inperson. Contact us to speak with Rita.

As former journalists, we know it can be hard to find the right story — and the right interviews. At LEM, we are focused on solution-based stories about changemakers. So we’re sharing WHAT we’re working on, WHO we’re talking to, and WHY it matters.
